The authority behind NXS9.
Three decades in the electrical and solar trades, now operating as an independent compliance and quality authority for commercial, industrial, and utility-scale solar and storage.
Joshua E. Fabian
Thirty years in the trades, from apprentice to Master Electrician of Record to founder and CEO. Joshua Fabian now operates as an independent compliance and quality authority for commercial, industrial, and utility-scale solar and storage.
He comes from a family of tradesmen with a deep entrepreneurial streak. In that world the trades were never just a job, they were a way of thinking: hands-on problem solving, field engineering, and figuring out what others could not. Pair that with an owner's mindset built over multiple companies and full profit-and-loss cycles, and the result is a leader who treats schedule, cost, safety, and quality as if the outcome were personal.
The work rests on a simple idea: judgment is most trustworthy when it has seen a project from every vantage point that can put it at risk. Joshua brings the installer's, the inspector's, the safety officer's, the executive's, and the regulator's view, along with a working command of design intent and what the engineering demands. That convergence is hard to replicate, and it is what makes the findings hold up.
From the field to the executive seat.
Every step in this career added a vantage point. None of them replaced the last.
The progression is the point. The authority is not academic, and it is not borrowed. It was earned in each seat, in order, from the first day as an apprentice to running operations and full profit-and-loss as an owner.
Career progression

- Founder and CEO, NXS9 Consulting
The credentials came after the calluses, not instead of them.
Twenty thousand-plus hours of hands-on work are the foundation under every inspection and every report.
Across the map, not just one corner of it.
Those 20,000+ hours as Master Electrician of Record span residential to utility-scale, and most things in between.
Systems, not just opinions.
Compliance infrastructure
NEC frameworks, design-review protocols, and field-supervision systems, built from scratch.
QA/QC standards
Quality programs and acceptance criteria architected for solar EPC and contracting operations.
Safety programs
OSHA-driven and NFPA 70E safety systems for high-risk electrical environments.
Field training
Standard operating procedures and crew training that scale with the work.
Built on the current code, not from memory.
Code is not a memory exercise. The edition that governs a project changes by state and by jurisdiction, and a finding is only as strong as the section it cites. NXS9 works from the current, adopted code for the jurisdiction that actually governs the work, verifies the controlling edition before citing it, and applies it with three decades in the field.
That is the difference between an opinion and a defensible position. Every inspection finding, commissioning result, owner's-representation memo, and licensing review is grounded in a current, citable section, for example NEC 690.12 on rapid shutdown, ready to hold up to an inspector, a lender, or a court. The point is not owning code books. It is knowing which edition governs, and exactly how it applies.
Verifiable, and the product itself.

Why NXS9.
The name joins nexus, a point of connection and convergence, with nine, a mark of completion and mastery.
It is the whole idea in one word: every vantage point on a project brought to one place, and held to the highest standard. The nine pillars are the original values the firm was built on. They still hold. The list below carries them into the oversight work NXS9 does today.
